Magyar Presbyterian

Ridge Road and Kossuth Street, Lackawanna New York

Magyar Presbyterian is on Ridge Road and Kossuth Street just before the railroad bridge if you are coming from Route Five.  This church like the two Reformed Magyar churches in Buffalo is topped with a short steeple and a star cross.  As you drive back towards Route Five the first intersection is Steelawanna Avenue, turn left to find Assumption Church.
Kossuth street is named after Lajos (Louis) Kossuth.  In the 1840's Lojos lead the independence movement of Hungary from Austria.  Independence was short lived though as the Russian Army, aligned with Austria, defeated the Hungarians in 1849.  Lojos toured the United States in 1851, receiving a hero's welcome in many of the cities he visited.
